Makalia River is a seasonal river but it’s the main source of water for Lake Nakuru together with other two rivers that are Njoro River and Enderit River. The Makalia falls are fed by the Makalia River that rises in the south-west of the Mau Forest. The water falls is located at the southern end of Lake Nakuru National Park, hidden behind some very unique but small rocks. Makalia falls is moderately small waterfall along river Makalia which is one of the seasonal rivers that flows into Lake Nakuru. Lake Nakuru National Park as stated is a haven of beautiful nature that includes definitely Lake Nakuru, the rocky raised ridges, seasonal rivers and the less known of Makalia falls. These animals include but not limited to the waterbuck, hippos, buffalos, rothschild’s giraffe, impalas, lions, leopards, cheetahs and of the black and white rhinos among other animals. Lake Nakuru National Park is Rhino sanctuary and habitat for more than 50 animal species that live in the park’s flora and some in Lake Nakuru. The variety of birds includes of course the flamingos, Maccoa duck, Northern puffback, Red-capped lark, Rufous-throated wryneck, Shining sunbird among others. Lake Nakuru National Park is a bird sanctuary with more than 400 species living in the park on Lake Nakuru and in the park’s savannah vegetation. Most people Know Lake Nakuru National Park for the flamingos that are always crowding the shores of Lake Nakuru and indeed these aesthetic birds are the first thing you will notice in this magnificent park but Lake Nakuru National Park has many more divine features and attractions that will leave its guests delighted. The park is endowed with amazing rocky ridges that are raised high above the park’s ground level to give unmatchable views of the lake Nakuru, the birds, the animals and the park’s surroundings.
